Buhari won’t spare ex-president Jonathan if he's proven corrupt – Presidency

According to the Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, anyone including former President Goodluck Jonathan that is found guilty of corruption will be made to face the law. He said this in an interview with Premium Times yesterday January 21st
“There is no accord. If the corruption fight needs to get there (making Mr. Jonathan face justice), it will get there. With this president, nobody will be protected. And I underscore it, if it needs to get anywhere, it will get there.” he said

Buhari host and rewards victorious sports men and women

President Buhari hosted and rewarded Victorious Men and Women of Sports in Nigeria at the Statehouse Banquet Hall today January 21st. At the reception, Buhari rewarded World scrabble champion, Wellington Jighere with N1.5m while his coach got N1.2m & his team security got N450k reward. The Golden Eaglets got N1.2m each while their Coach got N900k and Assistant coach got N600k. Other Golden eaglet team officials got between N200, 000 to -300,000.
U-23 AFCON Champions and their coach were rewarded with N500,000 each.  Also rewarded was the 1985 squad that got N2m each while their coaches got N1.5m. The Next of kin of late Kingsley Akhionbare is to get his on behalf of the family.

More than  300 killed during Army/Shiite clash- Human Rights Group claimsAn International Human Rights group, the Human Rights Watch, says over 300 Shiite members were killed during the Army/Shiite clash in Zaria Kaduna state on December 12th and 13th. A statement by the group which was released today claims that accounts by the Shiite members witnessed the killins say the Army hurriedly dug a mass grave for their members who were killed during the clash
"The army carried out attacks at the Hussainniya Baqiyyatullah mosque and religious center, at the home of the Shiite leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Al Zakzaky, in the Gyellesu neighborhood and at the sect’s burial ground, Daral-Rahma, over the course of two days

EFCC Afraid of Interrogating Emir Sanusi Arms deal

As investigation into the looting of funds meant for the acquisition of arms for the Nigerian armed forces continues, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, are in a dilemma over what to do with the former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
Sanusi, who was removed from the bank by former President Goodluck Jonathan for accusing the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, of not remitting $20 billion of oil proceeds into the national treasury, later become the Emir of Kano, an influential traditional and religious post that carried more weight in the northern part of Nigeria than the CBN.
The operatives are keen on interrogating the emir on the numerous disbursement of funds to the office of the fo rmer National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd), who is being tried for money laundering, breach of public trust and diversion of public funds.
